The Vandellòs bypass is put into service, bringing the cities of Barcelona and Valencia closer together, and reducing the journey time to 2 hours and 40 minutes. The new track, 64 kilometers long, starts in the south from Vandellòs, where the Iberian gauge track starts, and ends at the standard gauge changer in La Boella.
The bypass has required an investment of 700 million euro, and the companies FCC, Comsa and Copisa have participated, the latter constructing the new Cambrils station.
