27 Jun Copisa concludes its first project in Costa Rica, participating in the construction of the Torito hydroelectric plant
Copisa Group has concluded its participation in executing the Torito Hydroelectric Project, which is a project within the construction of the Torito Hydroelectric Plant in Costa Rica, owned by Global Power Generation, a subsidiary of the international generation of Gas Natural Fenosa. This plant is located in the province of Cartago, in the central-eastern region of the country. Located on the right bank of the Reventazón River, the plant generates 50 megawatts of power, bringing Costa Rica another step towards its goal of achieving 100% renewable energy production by 2021.
Copisa’s most important contributions to the project include the construction of the water intake, the construction of a water loading chamber fitting up to 125,000 cubic metres, the assembly of large-diameter steel tanks and tubing, and the construction of the building housing the machine room, which is 40 metres tall. The electrical substation measures 6,600 square metres in area and has a control building where the tension is elevated.
