Copisa has acquired 50% of INFESA (Ingeniería y Servicios Ferroviarios S.A.), a company specialised in railway facilities. The remaining 50% stays in the hands of the company CIVIS Infraestructuras S.L., the main shareholder of CRC Obras y Servicios S.L. INFESA is principally devoted to the construction, installation, reparation and preservation of all manner of railway equipment, tracks and facilities. It also conducts railway engineering studies and projects, plus all kinds of supplies and services relating to railway facilities. Grupo Copisa has been contributing to the development of infrastructures in Spain for almost 50 years now, operating in various fields such as civil works, construction, industry, real estate and concessions. CRC Obras y Servicios S.L., meanwhile, operates in Galicia, where it is leading the sector, in Catalonia and in central Spain, in the fields of construction and civil works.

Concession for the Roc del Duí Tunnel on the Ribes-Núria Rack Railway, Spain
The temporary joint venture (U.T.E.) formed by COPISA and INFESA has recently been awarded the contract for works on the Roc del Duí tunnel on the Ribes-Núria rack railway, run by Ferrocarriles Generalitat de Cataluña (FGG). The project concerns the installation of a railroad, plus medium- and low-voltage electrification and facilities, and has been allocated a budget of over 5.4 million euros.
Concession for the Development of the Castejón de Sos-Congosto del Ventamillo Section, Spain
The Ministry for Development has awarded Copisa the contract for developing the section of the N-260 highway between Castejón de Sos and Congosto, with a budget standing at 6.3 million euros. The intervention aims to accommodate this 3.2-kilometre-long section of road between Castejón de Sos and the entrance to Congosto, which has been officially declared a Place of Regional Interest.
Awarding of the Contract to Construct a Civic Centre in Roa, Burgos. Spain
Copisa is to build a civic centre in the town of Roa, which will serve as a visitors’ reception centre and will feature a control room, multi-purpose hall, audiovisual room, cafeteria and rooftop terrace. Aesthetically, the building will combine traditional construction with the latest building techniques while remaining in keeping with its surroundings, which include the remains of Roa’s fortified walls. The facades will be of granite-like stone and concrete plates, while the exterior framing will be aluminium, with the structure of reinforced concrete with gantries, slabs and frameworks. The project has a budget of over 2 million euros.
Remodelling of Montjuïc Olympic Stadium Due for Completion at End of February 2008
The Olympic Stadium at Montjuïc, which was named the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in 2001 in tribute to the President of the Catalonian regional government, was originally designed by architect Doménech i Roura and first opened for the World Fair in 1929. The stadium was later transformed for the 1992 Olympic Games, with only the original façade being preserved. As part of a project by the team of architects at 2BMF (2Buxadé, Margarit, Ferrando, SL Arquitectos), the stadium is now being faithfully reconstructed using a construction process in which everything is done at the same time, by levels of execution in accordance with the modulation of the stone cladding.
Remodelling of Jerez Auction Market (Spain) due for Completion in Three Months
The regional government’s Minister for Tourism, Trade and Sport, Sergio Moreno, and the Mayoress of Jerez, Pilar Sanchez, have visited the global remodelling works on the city’s late 19th century Central Auction Market to follow the progress in situ. During the visit, Sergio Moreno was able to verify the good pace of the works and the condition of the site following the demolition of the side walls of the fish hall to improve accessibility. He was also able to see the prefabricated steel “show stall” that exemplifies the stalls which the fish sellers will be using once the works have been completed.
CPI Copisa Industrial Completes Mechanical Assembly of BOP for ENEL’s Combined Cycle Plant in Escatrón (Spain)
CPI Copisa Industrial has completed the mechanical assembly of the BOP (Balance of Plant) for Italian company ENEL’s combined cycle generating plant in Escatrón. The plant is currently in the commissioning phase, in which CPI is actively involved.
EASA Awarded Contract for Amphitheatre at Expo Zaragoza 2008 International Exhibition
Copisa-EASA has been awarded the contract for the 7,990-seater amphitheatre for the Expo Zaragoza international exhibition. One of the Expo’s most significant sites, it will be home to numerous artistic exhibitions on its 600 m² of stage area. EASA (Estructuras Aragón S.A.), part of Grupo Copisa, is currently executing several works for the Expo, such as the exhibition’s Technical Building and the development of the Parque Metropolitano Sur park.

Grupo Copisa Awarded MC Mutual “Antonio Baró” Prize for Prevention of Occupational Hazards
Grupo Copisa has been awarded the MC MUTUAL “Antonio Baró” Prize for the Prevention of Occupational Hazards. This, the sixth outing of the awards ceremony, was presided over by the Catalonian regional government’s Minister for Employment, Mar Serna, and the Social Security Development Director at the Ministry for Employment and Social Affairs, Miguel Ángel Díaz Peña. Grupo Copisa was given the award for extending the management of its preventative measures to cover not only its own companies but also its subcontractors, whom it audits. All the actions implemented by the Group have led to a 72.88% reduction in rates of absenteeism over the last three years, achieving figures 80% below the sector average in 2006.
