AGBAR, COPISA and INDRA are working on a pioneering project for the protection of the Ebro Delta’s environment

The implementation of a network of environmental indicators will enable real-time monitoring of the Ebro Delta’s environmental status and also of the state of conservation and dynamics of its aquatic ecosystems. With a budget of €12M, the project, awarded by the state-run company Acuamed (Mediterranean River Basin Waters), is the first of its type and size to be carried out in Spain.

Contract awarded for new station at La Sagrera, Barcelona. Spain

ADIF, an independent body of the Ministry of Development, has awarded the contract for the road and rail accesses to the La Sagrera railway station, in Barcelona, to the UTE (Temporary Union of Companies) formed by the companies Copisa, FCC, Ferrovial and Rubau, for 222.8 million euros.  The future intermodal station at La Sagrera will integrate high-speed, regional and local rail traffic, the Metro, buses and taxis, and it is forecast that it will be used by 100 million passengers a year.

“Fernando García Mercadal” Prize

The work carried out by EASA, a Building of 112 dwellings in Avda. Ranillas, Zaragoza (Spain), by the architect Basilio Tobías Pintere, has been awarded Second Prize in the 24th “FERNANDO GARCÍA MERCADAL” ARCHITECTURE PRIZE for the pleasing volumetric design of the building, set on a site by a crossroads, using a structural system which allows, together with the lightness of the materials, the use of an unrestricted layout.

“Ricardo Magdalena” Trophy

The Edificio Hydros, of 112 dwellings, in Avda. Ranillas, Zaragoza (Spain), a work by Basilio Tobías, carried out by EASA, has been first equal winner of the 30th “Ricardo Magdalena” Trophy for Architecture, granted by the Institución Fernando el Católico, for the way in which the project fits in with the city, the river and its residential use.  This trophy is intended to distinguish not only the architectural values intrinsic to the buildings, but also an adequate proportion between the means used and the results attained. The trophy also wishes to reward the appositeness of the use of these buildings, in a field open to any public or private initiative.

Girona Cathedral, Spain

Natur System has been awarded the contract for the restoration of the northern façade and the windows of Girona Cathedral following an invitation to tender offered by the Ministry for Culture.

Construmat Awards 2009

The construction and urbanisation of the Gran Vía thoroughfare and Plaza Europa square in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Spain) have been honoured at the Construmat Awards 2009. The jury granted this award in the category of Civil Engineering for the transformation of the Gran Vía and the development of the surrounding areas, which has opened up this entry road to the city of Barcelona.

Awarding of the South-Western Section of the SE-40 Motorway, Spain

The management board of Spain’s State Company for Terrestrial Transport Infrastructures (SEITT) has awarded Copisa, in a temporary joint venture (U.T.E.) with Aldesa Construcciones and Bruesa Construcción, the contract for executing the works “SE-40 Motorway, South-Western Sector, Dos Hermanas (A-4)-Coria del Río (A-8058) Section, Subsection A-4 Interchange (Dos Hermanas)-South Tunnels of the River Guadalquivir-Western Mouth” for a figure of 232 million euros.

Cross-Border Hospital for the La Cerdanya District, Girona. Spain

The temporary joint venture (U.T.E.) between Copisa and AGEFRED has been awarded the contract for the construction of the new hospital at Pla de Rigolisa in Puigcerdà, which will serve the districts of La Cerdanya and El Capcir. The project is the result of an agreement between the regional government of Catalonia and the French Ministry for Health with the participation of the Puigcerdà City Council to provide inpatient and outpatient care to the population on both sides of the border. This will be the first cross-border hospital in Europe.

Construction of 16 Sewage Treatment Plants in Aragon, Spain

The Aragon Water Institute has awarded the temporary joint venture (U.T.E.) formed by Copisa, CPI Copisa Industrial and EASA the contract to construct 16 treatment facilities and operate them for 20 years, for a figure in excess of 25 million euros. This decision corresponds to Phase III of the regional government of Aragon’s Special Sanitation and Water Treatment Plan.
