The Copisa-Suris Joint Venture has handed over the first of five planned COVID-19 hospitals in Catalonia

The Copisa-Suris Joint Venture has handed over the first of five multi-use hospitals to become operational in 2021 in Catalonia to assist in caring for COVID-19 patients. This hospital is located next to the Bellvitge University Hospital, in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona).
The Head of CatSalut, Adrià Comella, broke the news on Thursday in an online press conference, together with the Regional Minister of Health, Alba Vergés.

Copisa has been entrusted with construction of the pedestrian walkway that will connect Madrid Río with the Manzanares Linear Park

The walkway to be built by Copisa will be 1.4 kilometres long and will include a wooden footbridge over the riverbed. Construction of the walkway will begin in August.

The walkway, featuring a wooden footbridge, is designed for use by pedestrians and cyclists alike,  and will be 1.4 kilometres long and 2.5 metres wide. The City Council will build a pedestrian path connecting Madrid Río and the Manzanares Linear Park, to enable continuous transit along the entire stretch of river, and to unite the southern area of the capital with the city centre. Construction will begin in August and is scheduled to last for six months, with a budget of €1,148,804.46.

The aim of the Department of the Environment and Mobility is to unite these two large green areas by a walkway that can be used by pedestrians and cyclists alike. The walkway will run in a north-south direction, next to Manzanares River dam number 9, ending at the main road that surrounds the Manzanares Linear Park, near the M-40.

Copisa is completing construction on a hospital in Peru

Located in the Ate district of the Peruvian capital, with a 45 million euro budget and whose completion date has been brought forward to allow those suffering from Coronavirus to be admitted.

The facilities constructed by Copisa boast 20,000 square metres distributed over 5 floors, of which 1,900 square metres will be for intensive care units (ICU).

Copisa Group acquires electric vans

Copisa Group has expanded its fleet of electric vehicles with the acquisition, by means of the purchase mode, of four units of 100% electric vans Nissan e-NV200.

This is the latest version of this zero emission vehicle with a battery of 40 kW and a range of 280 km.

The new vans, in addition to having the label 0 emissions to circulate without any restrictions, allow Copisa Group to continue fulfilling its environmental commitment, as it has been doing for several years with the incorporation into its fleet of different models of vehicles propelled with alternative energies.

The Vandellòs railway diversion is put into service, Tarragona. Spain

The Vandellòs bypass is put into service, bringing the cities of Barcelona and Valencia closer together, and reducing the journey time to 2 hours and 40 minutes. The new track, 64 kilometers long, starts in the south from Vandellòs, where the Iberian gauge track starts, and ends at the standard gauge changer in La Boella.

The bypass has required an investment of 700 million euro, and the companies FCC, Comsa and Copisa have participated, the latter constructing the new Cambrils station.

The Line 5 of Barcelona underground will open a new station in 2021

The Department of Territory awarded the Joint Venture Copisa-Obrascón Huarte Lain the architecture and installation works of the new Ernest Lluch station on line 5 of the Barcelona underground, worth 14.2 million euros.

The works to be executed include interior conditioning, accesses, architecture, finishes and installations. There will also be a new ventilation chamber for a good station air inlet and outlet, and the drainage of the infrastructure will be reinforced.

The station will have three levels: ground, hall and platforms. The access to the hall is at the crossroads of the Trambaix stop. The emergency exit will be executed at the other end of the station, on the corner with Ernest Lluch street of l’Hospitalet de Llobregat.

The stop is located between the stations of Collblanc and Pubilla Cases, and will connect the underground line with the T1, T2 and T3 lines of the Trambaix.

At the end of last December, the Joint Venture Nou Projecte Meridiana, mainly owned by COPISA, delivered the new Guttmann Barcelona center with an execution time of 29 months and a total budget of 14.9 EUR millions, of which 12.5 EUR millions correspond to the civil works contract with the Joint Venture. The building will mean a significant increase in existing healthcare provision for the city of Barcelona.

The new building houses two different and disruptive initiatives that represent a step further in the provision of services for people with disabilities: on the one hand the apartments for the promotion of independent life Guttmann Barcelona Life, fully adapted and automated; and on the other, the brain health clinic Brain Health Institute, which aims to provide the most advanced knowledge and clinical techniques, now available in the world, in order to offer patients the best and most effective diagnosis and specialized treatment in neurological diseases and their effects regarding the functionality of the people who suffer them. The Brain Health Institute includes the Guttmann, NeuroPersonalClínic®, a highly specialized gymnasium in neurorehabilitation, equipped with the latest technologies and the most innovative therapies.

Guttmann Barcelona has the mission of providing the best neuro rehabilitative attention to people with neurological disability, and offering them the most appropriate supports and specialized services that contribute to improving their quality of life, in accordance with the paradigms of personal autonomy, independent life, self-management and social inclusion.

The new center is located where formerly the former Guttmann Institute hospital already existed, opened in 1965. The current building has almost 17,000 m2, distributed in five floors including the apartments and the NeuroPersonalClínic; of these, approximately 3,700 are parking spaces for users. Guttmann Barcelona is expected to create about 75 new direct and indirect jobs.

GUTTMANN BARCELONA LIFE

The demolition of the Philology building begins, within the reformation of Faculty of Humanities, Zaragoza. Spain

The president of Aragón, Javier Lambán, and the rector of the University, José Antonio Mayoral, together with the regional Minister of Innovation, Research and University, Pilar Alegría, attended the beginning of the demolition of the Philology Pavilion, part of the works of demolition to undertake the reform and expansion of the Faculty of Humanities.

The project includes the construction in the surface of the pavilion of a modern departmental building, the rehabilitation of the historical site and the urbanization of the environment of the Faculty. The execution of these works will cost 19 million euros and it is estimated that the students can use the new facilities in the course 2022-2023.

The Joint Venture Facultad de Filosofía, integrated by COPISA, EASA-Estructuras Aragón, FCC Construcción and FCC Infraestructuras Energéticas, has started the demolition works, that will last three months; the execution of the whole works of reform
of the faculty will last for 36 months.

The platform viaduct over the river Tajo, one of the future landmarks of the Spanish High Speed Line, has been finished

Adif Alta Velocidad has finished the execution of the viaduct platform over the river Tajo, from the High Speed Line Madrid-Extremadura. Once finished, it will be one of the viaducts with the highest arch of this type in the world, for high speed rail use.

This work finishes the structure of this viaduct, which will allow the continuity of the line along the platform from Cáceres to the connection branches in Plasencia.

The section Cañaveral – Alcántara reservoir, from the High Speed Line Madrid – Extremadura, placed between Talayuela and Cáceres, is 6,492.168 m long. It crosses Cañaveral and Garrovillas, in the province of Cáceres, belonging to the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.

This structure, placed at the boundary of both towns, is its most remarkable element. It is 1,488 m long and has been planned on an arched central span of 324 m, measuring 90 m above the average level of the river.

The works are being executed by Copisa in a Joint Venture with Copasa.
