18 Oct Copisa begins the work of mining engineering most important in Spanish state
The Joint Venture formed by Copisa and Ferrovial has commenced drilling of the new salt and potash extraction ramp for chemical firm Iberpotash. This will make it possible to transport the mineral straight from the Cabanasses mine and its processing plant without going through the town of Súria. At 4.7 kilometres the extraction ramp is the longest tunnel with the biggest gradient to be built in Spain in the subsoil, reaching a depth of 900 metres. This project is widely seen as the most important in the field of mining engineering to have been carried out in Spain and involves an investment of over €200 million.
