The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has awarded to Copisa the project to build a new bridge over the Chagres River for a total of $8,890,424.91.
The project consists in designing and building a concrete bridge over the Chagres River, Gamboa, to the east of the old existing structure. It will be 278 metres long with eight clearings 34.75 metres wide each. Plus, it will have two traffic lanes (one in each direction) 3.65 metres wide each and a pedestrian walkway one metre wide.
The project includes the rigid concrete paved accesses on either end, which will connect to the existing roads.
In addition to benefiting the community, this bridge is essential for the Panama Canal to operate.
